Making a Meaningful Difference

The Penn Mutual Board, on behalf of the company, re-affirms our commitment to increasing diversity, reducing bias and contributing to racial equity in our workplace and in our communities.

Today, we join the chorus of voices throughout the world, declaring that we promise to do better. To listen. To reflect. To do more. To make a meaningful difference within the Black and African American communities. To take actions that lead to positive, sustainable results. To be accountable for the change we want to see in the world.

And while we don’t yet have all the answers, we realize how important it is to make our beliefs and intentions clear.

We recognize that the roots of the problem are deep. We also recognize the urgency to act and inspire hope. It is clear that things need to change.

Our long-standing commitment to diversity and inclusion is woven into our business practices, our community investments, and our organization’s culture of respect and belonging. Doing the right thing is in our DNA. 

It’s going to take all of us, working together—strengthened by mutual understanding and shared commitment—to “affect all directly.” As a mutual company, we operate on founding principles that prioritize common interests, for the benefit of all. The words of Dr. King ring true to us, now and always.
