Penn Mutual Announces the Appointment of Richard R. Whitt III to the Penn Mutual Board of Trustees

PHILADELPHIA, PA – May 15, 2025 – The Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company (Penn Mutual) is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard R. Whitt III to its distinguished Board of Trustees. Whitt brings more than three decades of financial management and insurance experience to serve in this key governance role for the Penn Mutual enterprise.

Whitt most recently served as Co-Chief Executive Officer at Markel Corporation. Under his leadership, Markel transformed into a global leader in the insurance industry, known for its specialty insurance products and commitment to excellence. Prior to serving as Co-CEO, Whitt held numerous senior leadership roles, including President and Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer. Whitt started with Markel in 1991.

Whitt began his career as an auditor at KPMG. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Information Systems from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
