HORSHAM, Pa. - November 16, 2017 – The Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company (Penn Mutual) is excited to announce that Maurice L. Stewart, executive consultant at the company, has been named The American College of Financial Services’ 2017 Huebner Award recipient. Stewart was presented the Solomon Huebner Gold Medal on November 17th at The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, PA.

The Huebner Gold Medal is the highest honor bestowed by the College and has been awarded in recognition of Stewart’s vast accomplishments within the financial services industry. It has been granted annually since 1975, and is named after the founder of the College, Dr. Solomon S. Huebner. Recipients are recognized as individuals whose dedication to education and professionalism have a significant link to the mission and progress of The American College.

Stewart’s dedication to The American College is evident in his long and distinguished career. Stewart is the director of The College’s Chartered Leadership program, and is the namesake of the Maurice Stewart Lectureship. In 2012, he was granted a place in The American College Hall of Fame.

“I am humbled to receive such a distinguished honor, and I am grateful to have the opportunity to continue its lineage,” says Stewart. “It is a mission of mine to reach others with my passion and continued support for education in the financial services industry, tied to the miracle of life insurance.”

Stewart is recognized as an icon within Penn Mutual and the industry. He spent 31 of his 64 years in the industry as a top performing general agent at Penn Mutual. In addition, he has held numerous leadership positions in the General Agents’ and Managers’ Association (GAMA) and was inducted into the organization’s International Hall of Fame. His work and contributions to the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) earned him the 2003 President’s Cup Award and a place in the Philadelphia Life Underwriters’ Hall of Fame.

Eileen McDonnell, Penn Mutual Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, was honored with Huebner Award in 2015.
