Stephen Kennedy

Stephen Kennedy joined Penn Mutual in 2024 as Chief Operating Officer. In this role, he is responsible for the complete service and operations, underwriting and business transformation functions of the company. Kennedy and his team are focused on delivering service excellence to Penn Mutual Financial Professionals and policyholders.

Prior to Penn Mutual, Kennedy served as Chief Operating Officer at Thrivent, where he built a service-first mentality across the organization and spearheaded numerous initiatives to set new benchmarks for client and Financial Professional satisfaction. He brings more than three decades of experience in the financial sector, including senior leadership roles at Allianz and AIG American General.

Kennedy has a bachelor’s degree from Monmouth College and a master’s in business administration from the University of Illinois. He holds the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), and FINRA Series 6 and Series 26 registrations. Additionally, Stephen holds the LIMRA Leadership Institute Fellow (LLIF), the Fellow Life Management Institute (FLMI) and Associate Customer Service (ACS) designation.
